CONCESSIONS
Every organization in the Linn Mar district takes turns working the concession stands at the different events. The money earned goes to the Booster Club and then is distributed to the different groups based on need, application etc. So Friday night the Men's swim team parents were in charge of doing concessions for the football game. Doing concessions always gives me a sentimental feeling. Growing up I can remember that my Grandma Wienberg was always in charge of the concession stands for all the sports. It was so cool as a kid to be able to help Grandma out. I loved getting the popcorn ready and taking the money and making change. She would always let me have a little something for helping out. It always made me feel so special. It was also cool because during football games if it were really cold outside, it was a warm little spot to hang out in, and for the basketball games there was a little window that gave a great view of the game. Awe such fond memories. After last friday and working the Home teams concession stand, I had a whole new perspective.....it was CRAZY....I have never worked so hard in a volunteer position for a 4 hour time frame before. I have a whole new respect for those doing concessions at the college and professional level. I just kept thinking of my Grandma and how much fun she would have had seeing all the people she knew, and enjoying serving others. It got me through the night. Before I went to bed, I took a little time to thank God for putting my Grandma in my life and for the memories that I treasure.

Awe Paula this is sweet! Brought a tear to my eye!
I have fond memories of Grandma in the concessions too...and her head poking out that little window in our wee-little gym watching the games...
