Above...Jeremey and his friend Tyler after we hauled everything up 3 flights of stairs and got his room all set up. We then took the boys to Pizza Pit (still the best pizza in Ames) for lunch, got a tour of Tyler's Frat House, made a run to Walmart and headed back to the Dorm.
Jaydin and Rob posing with Jeremey for a final photo before we took off to find a gas station with air to pump up Jeremey's bike tires for him.
And in true Burley's fashion, when pumping up the tires one of them blew out! So we made another trip to walmart to get a new tire and a hand held tire pump. The irony in it is that we told Jeremey he couldn't take his car with him to college as we were afraid of the risk of him having mechanical problems and having to deal with repairs etc. that far away from home. Fate had to get in one last little punch of laughter at us, by showing us that that even with a bike he will have to deal with mechanical issues....although it is much easier and cheaper to fix a bike tire than a car tire. We are chalking it up to one last father/son bonding moment of working on repairs together for the year. (and it provided material for some great jokes...."how many degrees does it take to change a bike tire?" answer: 2 BA's, & a high school diploma)
I felt a real peace of mind when we left to head home. Thank you all for your prayers of support and encouragement as we made this transition. It was a pretty quite ride home...I managed to hold it together without crying (perhaps I was all cried out after the week leading up to this day). I'm not gonna lie....it feels kind of weird knowing that he won't be home tonight, or after a week. It's going to take some getting used to by all of us. None-the-less, as Jaydin said "we miss him already, but we are proud and excited for him, because he is so excited to start this new adventure"

Good luck to Jeremey, we know he will do just awesome! Good luck Rob, Paula & Jaydin, hang in there, it will most likely be harder on you 3 then on him. We have been thinking of you all. We gave Alex his address & email as she has several friends that she visits a lot there. Rest assured he is at a wonderful college! Go Ia State!!!! BBJE
