Cowboy Up! Below is the group of boys heading to Philmont Calvalcade. They have been planning this trip for over a year now. Many preparations have taken place including, earning funds (thankyou all of you popcorn lovers), trail riding, earning a horsemanship merit badge, campouts, and a shakedown which included the viewing of the movie "The Cowboys". It will be a great experience for them all.

Last minute packing. All must fit into a 22X12 in. duffel for the trail.
The entire crew...11 boys and 4 adults from Troop 560
"I'm going to miss you"
Amtrak rolls into the station at Ft. Madison
All aboard!! The group loads up their gear in the baggage car and find their seats on the train. The train pulled out at 7:02pm. What an excited group of kids. It was a very cool experience to watch the train pull in. I am not sure if the West is Wild, but it will be in a couple of days when this group arrives. There were 5 other scout groups on the train heading to Philmont. They will arrive in Raton on Thursday morning and then head to base camp near Cimmeron NM. They will spend the first couple of days becoming one with their horses and prepping for the the trek through the Mountains. They are taking the southern trek which will provide for great scenery and experiences of a lifetime. Happy Trails Troop 560...get along now and don't be wastin' daylight.
