Ouch!!!

So after about 3 weeks of increasing pain in my heel, I decided to stop self diagnosing and treating the problem and go to a professional. It seems as though I have somehow pulled the ligament in my foot that connects the heel to to ball of my foot. Due to my high arch, that which is falling, resulting in weight bearing pressure on the ligament it is causing pain. That coupled with the fact that for the last three weeks I have have been walking funny to compensate the pain; my achilles tendon has tightened up and now is also causing pain. Throw in a couple of heel spurs and we have ourselves a diagnosis. Kind of what I suspected. So the cure...a 50%/40%/10% combination. 50%-wearing my orthodics to lift my arch (check..although this is a tough one during the summer as I like my flip flops) 10%- taking an anti-inflamnitory steroid to reduce the pain and swelling (check) & last but not least 40%- doing the neccessary weight bearing stretches to increase the elasticity of the achilles tendon and strenthen the ligaments-this must be a life long committment (will begin today once the pain killers take hold)....hopefully in about 3 weeks I will be able to walk without a limp again.

How is the progress on your foot coming along? Also - please post an update of Burley family events for your readers - surely something has happened in the last week that is blogworthy. Thanks.

I say you have plantar fasciitis and need to see the PT! or get a boot, don't get talked into getting a steroid shot!
