The Qwest Lady showed up bright and early this morning to check out our phone jack situation. I explained to her the situation and informed her that we had isolated the situation to somewhere between the phone jack and the wiring outside. I was a bit nervous because she crossed the threshold and set foot in the house (that which the man from customer service informed me that if they had to enter the house to isolate the problem it would result in a minimum service fee of $85). She hooked up her fancy machines and heard a funky noise, shook her head and then proceeded to the back yard to check the wiring. Apparently all of the wires were corroded and pretty much fell apart as she touched each one. We were lucky that any of the phone jacks worked. She replaced all the wires and then checked all the phone jacks to ensure they were working. Yahoo! I was awaiting the bill and she smiled and said my favorite phrase from repair persons..."NO CHARGE"... we'll report that it was an outside wiring problem. Thank you Ms. Jackcheckin'wirefixin'restoremyinternetconnectionqwest lady!!! Go Qwest...I'll pay my bill with a smile this month.
ps...stay tuned for the blogs to catch you up on all the highlights over the past couple of weeks. For now though I must get back to the cleaning and organizing that has been spurred by this series of uncovring and isolating phone jack issues.
