And the Award goes to....

ME ! What for you're asking? What amazing honor has she recieved now? Mom of the Year? No, No, No, my friends. This award is one that I have recieved before, and am sure to recieve again in my life. You too may have recieved this honor, or will at sometime in your life recieve it. The one, The only "Worst Mom in the World Ever Award". Yes this award is presented with attitude vs grattitude. No acceptance speech is neccessary, I just wear the imaginary honor with pride knowing that some day when my child is a productive, well adjusted member of society she will thank me for all the awful, horrible decisions that I have made in her best interest.

So what's the story you're asking? Well a friend stopped over with an invite to a birthday party for this coming Sat. No biggie, alot of invites are hand delivered the week of the party. Upon opening it I see that it is a "movie" party. They are planning to attend a matinee and then go back to this friends house and have a sleepover. Sounds like fun yes? Well here is my problem, the movie is a PG13 movie with violence, language, underlying mature content. Oh did I mention the girls are only 10, some 11 years old! Am I nuts or is this an inappropriate thing to base a party on. I am not going to say the I have never let my 10 yr old see a PG13 movie, but I have always viewed them first to qualify the content and determine if it is acceptable. I have not seen this movie personally, nor do I have the desire to, but have heard mixed reviews on it's appropriateness for kids that are age 13 & up, let alone a 10/11 yr old. So I did what every horrible mother does, and spoke with the mother of the friend and expressed my concern over the content of the movie. She said she understood if we didn't want our child watching the movie, but said that they would love to have her join the party after the movie at their house. This to me was one of the reasonable options that I was thinkin in the back of my mind. Apparently this was not a reasonable option in the mind of my 10 year old, but that's why I am the mom. So hear I sit (in silence) wearing my imaginary badge of honor. So I raise my imaginary glass in a toast " to all the worst mom's in the world" Cheers!!
