Before you get the vision of me rolling and spinning around on the floor on my back with my legs in various pretzel formations stuck in your head....let me explain that we are simply dancing with joy over the fact that it is spring break. It has been a busy week and I have failed to take photos of the events but I thought you would enjoy an update. (let your imagination form the photos to go along with the post)
Friday of last week we supported our Linn Mar Lions BB team and headed to Des Moines to watch them play in the state tourney. It was a great little road trip for us. The weather was gorgeous and we ended up winning on Friday and that put us in the finals on Sat. We had quite a bit on our calendar for Sat. so we ended up just watching the boys kick some Hoover Booty from the comfort of our home on Sat. evening. Go Lions!
Sunday we hosted a little luncheon for a Youth Ministry team at church and had a very productive meeting, planning out the activities for the next month or so. That evening we loaded up the van and headed to Ames to find a hotel with a pool and just chill. We ordered in Pizza and swam and played cards and watched movies.
Monday Am we headed to the ISU campus and began our day of visitation. I must say it is a very impressive campus and environment. Much different than either Rob or I remembered it. (keep in mind we didn't attend the campus for intellectual purposes, but rather social ones) We did hit some familiarity when we walked down to campus town for lunch. At any rate we were able to get a tour of the school of engineering and more specifically the school of aerospace engineering. We were able to have one of the professors as our tour guide for the afternoon, which worked to our benefit cause he took us to all the labs and classrooms that are behind the scenes that aren't usually part of the tour. He gave us great advice when considering where to attend and focused on the type of teaching/learning style they provided so that Jeremey could determine if that was a match for him. Although the conversation for the most part between Jeremey, the Professor, and the other student was way over my head...I was totally impressed with the "toys" in the labs that were available and the intensity of the program offered....98.5% job placement rate for the graduates didn't hurt to hear either. It was like watching a kid in a candy store...wide eyed, wanting to touch everything, and soaking it all in. The classrooms were like a scene out of the movie Goodwill Hunting (with all the formulas & theories chicken scratched on the white boards) We were also able to meet with the ROTC captain and discuss options available through that program. All in all a very productive day. No final decisions have been made yet, but I may have to fold up my Hawkeye Shirt and sport a Cyclone one if it comes to that. We have a trip to Co. Springs planned in a couple weeks to visit the Air Force Academy....Jeremey will get to spend a day with a Cadet, going to classes etc.
The rest of the week has been filled with ordinary tasks such as; dentist appointments, grooming appointment for Oliver, a little shoppings, a trip to the Uof I hospital for participation in a floride study, dance classes, getting the trampoline set up, hanging out getting laundry done & watching a marathon of movies.
Rob's break dance came to an end today as he went back to work. Tomorrow we will take a little trip to Coralville and then get some raking done in the yard. On Sunday it's church and basking in the last day before we all head back to the reality of work and school next week. It is the beginning of the last quarter....hard to believe.
Here's to the end of the Dance and the beginning of a new one....the dance of life!
