Shoot for 2

Unlike Jeremey, Jaydin is one who needs a lot of encouragement to participate in extra curricular activities. She enjoys participating, but doesn't like the cutthroat competition that occurs in the sports that she enjoys participating in....ie. soccer & basketball. A friend turned us on to a program that is offered through a local church called UPWARDS. It is a christian based program that focuses on the kids learning the game in a non threatening enviroment. It has been wonderful for Jaydin. They practice once a week and have games on saturdays. They earn stars for participating in the game...each color represents accomplishment in a different area, whether it be offense, defense, best effort, best sportsmanship, etc. They also earn a star each week for memorizing the bible verse of the week. The kids take great pride in earning these stars. The other cool thing is that she is able to meet other kids. I am so proud of Jaydin for branching out and participating in these activities. It is truly building her confidence and helping her to feel comfortable in things that are out of her box. She is really shy when it comes to meeting new people, but also really enjoys making new friends. She has always been very nervous about trying new things, but once she gets over that hump she is good to go and you would never guess her to be insecure. The girls have become quite a close knit little group that are truly excited to see each other each week. I have enjoyed meeting the parents and forming some new relationships myself.above, the girls do thier warm up drills..Jaydin far right.
above, pregame prayer huddle. Teams are made up of girls in grades 4-6th. We definately have the shortest team in the league. We are not short on hustle and drive though.

Jaydin gets an open shot. She usually plays point gaurd, but can give the post positions some pretty good effort. Doesn't let the heigth of her competition stop her from getting around them.

The post game meeting where stars are handed out along with some great encouragement from the coaches and parents. Above, her #1 fan sits beside her!! She was so excited that Jeremey could come and watch her game this weekend.
