This morning was the last Bobcat Blast we will participate in. This is a PTO fundraiser where the kids run for 40min. and raise $$ to put towards various needs that aren't covered under the school's budget. This year primarily will go to technology updates for various grades. It was kind of bittersweet to watch these 5th graders and reminisce about the years. It seems like just yesterday they were little kindergarteners. (sniff, sniff)
The PE teacher gets them all warmed up, stretched out and ready to run....
The kids get a stamp for every lap they make around the track. The average was about 10 laps...the record was 16 I think. Jaydin poses for a photo. The other highlights include: Scott Saville MC-ing the event, The parents loading up water guns and having just as much fun squirting the kids, the Linn Mar Lion joining in the fun and some rockin' tunes to run to.
After the run each participant recieves a popcicle and a prize for participation. This year they got really cool water bottles. The weather was perfect. cool, overcast and the rain held off so they could get the whole event in.

do the kids try to raise the money from families/neighbors??? Or is it sponsored?
Jana- They raise money from family & friends, also alot of empoloyers in the area will match funds for them. 500+ students at an average of $25 raised each..ususally end up with around $13,000 when it is all said & done.
