Proud Moment
A co-worker and I share what we call "proud mom" moments. The ones where your heart is filled with joy, and you get this warm feeling throughout your body. You get a permanent smile and sometimes your eyes well up with tears of joy. You look at your child and you see them in as this amazing little person. Well yesterday I was able to share in a "proud daughter" moment. I attended Mom's retirement party at school. What an amazing group of people who have worked with my Mom for the past 23years. An added bonus was seeing some of my past teachers. Her supervisors/co-workers stood before a group of about 35-40 people and shared their thoughts about my Mom. How cool it was to hear them all talk about what an amazing employee, boss, manager, and person she is. Now I have always known this about my Mom, but I have a bit of a biased opinion. It is true and it brought joy to my heart to know that others have been able to witness and be touched by her as well. They showered her with some amazing gifts that she will be able to enjoy during her retirement years. But more importantly they showered her with stories and sentiments that will leave an imprint on her heart as she takes this next step in her life. Mom....I am proud of you and am so happy for you and Dad to be able to enjoy retirement together, doing all the things that you love whenever you want. I only pray that I can be 1/2 the person that you are. You are my herione and you make me proud to call you Mom!!
